Services

We work inside owner-led Texas companies to fix what makes them hard to run and worth less than they should be.

SweetSpot Business Advisors is a team of hands-on advisors for owner-led companies, generally $1 million to $50 million in revenue: field service, construction trades, manufacturing and energy services. We look at how the work really gets sold, delivered and paid for, find what is actually causing the problem, and tell you plainly what to fix first.

Founded by Daniel Sweet, who has advised on more than $250 million in sale and purchase deal value, on both sides of the table. About us

Take the free self-assessment Talk to an advisor

You do the work

Find your weakest area for free, or get a written plan to fix it yourself.

Both start from your own answers about how the business runs today.

Free Self-Assessment · Online · About 5 minutes

A free score of how your business runs, area by area, that names the first area worth fixing

Choose this when you want a private first read before you talk to anyone.

What happens
You pick the sentence that sounds most like your situation, from an owner bottleneck to a family handoff, and rate how the business runs today.
You walk away with
A score for each area and the first area worth fixing. No email needed to see your result.
Who does the work
You, online, on your own time.
Field Guide · Written plan · You run it

A written plan for your two weakest areas, which your team runs for 90 days

Choose this when the problem is familiar and narrow, and you would rather fix it yourself.

What happens
You take the free self-assessment first. We build the plan from your answers, and a person reviews it before it ships. Most arrive in about a week.
You walk away with
What to check first, which fixes usually waste money, and three actions to run one at a time over 90 days, with worksheets that show whether each one worked.
Who does the work
You and your team: about 50 minutes a week, with one person keeping the worksheet.

Full refund within 30 days if it doesn’t hand you at least one change worth making this quarter.

We look at your business

We check your records on one problem, or walk your whole operation on site.

Each ends with a straight call on what is causing the problem and what to fix first.

Business System Inspection · Remote · One problem area

We review your actual records on one problem and tell you in writing what to fix first

Choose this when you know roughly which area is hurting, but not why, and a wrong guess would be expensive.

What happens
We first confirm it is the right step. Then you send records you already keep, and we talk through how the work really runs, with you and, where it helps, the people who do it.
You walk away with
A written strategy document: the likely cause versus the symptom, what to fix first, what to leave alone, a 90-day path, and whether bigger work is worth paying for. About a week after we meet to go over what you sent.
Who does the work
Us, with you and your team supplying the records and the conversation.

If the answer is a short list your own team can handle, the document says so.

Three Engine Diagnostic · On site · Priced per day

An advisor works on site at your business and leaves you a prioritized plan for sales, delivery and cash flow

Choose this when you can feel the pressure but can’t tell where it lives, or you want the whole business looked at in one pass.

What happens
We walk your sales process, your delivery and your cash flow with the people who run each one, including about an hour alongside your staff on the job.
You walk away with
A sit-down readout the same day: the biggest thing holding the business back, named, and a prioritized list of what to fix, each with an honest call on who should do it: you, us, or another firm. A written report follows for your team.
Who does the work
A SweetSpot advisor working under Daniel Sweet’s direction, on site, with you in the room and your team showing how the work gets done.

$4,750 per on-site day, plus travel. The number of days depends on the size and complexity of the business; we agree it with you, in writing, before you book. Complete on its own. It is not a deposit on later work.

Profit Leak Review · On site · One day

One day at your shop: what an hour of your techs’ time really costs, and the lowest rate you can quote without losing money

Choose this when your crews are busy but margin is short, and your labor rate was set years ago and nobody has checked it since.

What happens
In one day at your shop we work out what an hour of your techs’ time really costs, the lowest rate you can quote without losing money, and where you’ve been quoting under it.
You walk away with
A rate card in your hand that evening, and the written findings within five business days.
Who does the work
One SweetSpot Business Advisors consultant, at your shop for the full working day. Your crews keep working.

$4,750 plus travel. No travel charge in the Houston metro area; $1,000 per trip anywhere else in Texas. If we don’t find at least $20,000 a year you’re leaving on the table, you get your fee back.

We plan for value and the handoff

Find what makes the business worth more, and plan how it changes hands.

Two one-day consultations at your business, each followed by a written plan about a week later. Use them before a sale, a family handoff, or a management buyout, or long before any of them.

Owner Value Overhaul · One day · On site

One day looking at your business the way a buyer will, then a written plan for what to fix first

Choose this when you want the business to be worth more to a buyer, whether you sell in a year, in five, or never, and you need to know what to fix first.

What happens
We go through the business the way a buyer’s team would: how much of it runs on you, how much of your revenue repeats or rides on a few customers, whether your books hold up when someone else checks them, and the records a buyer will ask for.
You walk away with
A written plan about a week later: what a buyer would mark you down for, and what to fix first, in order.
Who does the work
Us, on site at your business.

Fixed fee. We are not brokers: no listings, no commissions, no success fee.

Transition Blueprint · One day · On site · Owners only

One day with the owners planning how ownership moves, then the plan in writing about a week later

Choose this when a sale, a family handoff, or a management buyout is on the table and you want the order of decisions set before a buyer puts an offer in writing.

What happens
Just the owners are in the room. We look at who owns what today, the companies that make up the business, the org chart, and how ownership actually moves: to whom, in what pieces, over what period, and where the tax bills land.
You walk away with
A strategy you can explain at the end of the day, then the written Transition Blueprint, including the gaps on your professional team and people we have worked with who can fill them.
Who does the work
Us, with the owners. Daniel Sweet runs the day.

Fixed fee. We are not brokers: no percentage of the sale.

FAQ

Questions about where to start.

Which service should I start with?

If you are not sure, start with the free self-assessment for your situation. It takes about 5 minutes, needs no email to see the result, and names the first area worth fixing. If none of the situations fits, or several do, talk to an advisor instead.

Do I have to go through them in order?

No. Start wherever fits. Each one tells you plainly whether more work is worth paying for.

Will you try to sell me more work?

Each one is built to tell you whether more work is worth paying for, and sometimes the answer is no. If an Inspection finds a short list your own team can handle, the strategy document says so. The Three Engine Diagnostic is complete on its own, and each recommendation says who should do it: you, us, or another firm. The Field Guide comes with a 30-day refund. A first conversation with an advisor is free and commits you to nothing.

Which services are remote, and which are on site?

The self-assessment and the Field Guide are done on your own time. The Business System Inspection is remote: you send records you already keep and we talk it through. Transition Blueprint Day and the Owner Value Overhaul are each one day on site at your business. The Three Engine Diagnostic is on site and priced per day; the number of days depends on the size and complexity of the business, and we agree it with you, in writing, before you book.

Do you take a percentage of a sale?

No. We are not brokers. Transition Blueprint Day and the Owner Value Overhaul are each a fixed fee, with no percentage of any sale. We do not list businesses or bring you a buyer, and we take no referral fee from the attorneys and CPAs we name.

Who do you work with?

Texas owner-led businesses, generally from $1 million to $50 million in revenue: field service, construction trades, manufacturing and energy services.

Who is this usually not a fit for?

Owners who want a motivational answer, a software recommendation, or a rubber stamp for a fix already chosen. Owners still proving basic demand, with no operating pattern to look at yet. And owners who want one silver-bullet fix instead of a prioritized plan they run.

Do you work outside Texas?

We work with owner-led companies, usually $1 million to $50 million in revenue, mostly in Texas.

Do you do valuations or audits?

No. None of these puts a price on your business, and none is a financial review a buyer or lender will rely on; that is an accounting firm’s job, usually once a sale is in motion. The work is for finding and fixing what a buyer would find, before that point.

Not sure which one fits?

Start from your situation, or just ask.

Pick the sentence that sounds most like you and we will point you to the right first step. If none of them fits, send a note and a person reads it.
